Answers Start with the Right Tests

Diagnosing a health concern or monitoring a chronic condition begins with accurate, timely testing. At ProMed Longevity + Primary Care, we offer a range of in-house diagnostic screenings and lab testing at both our Arlington and Irving locations, so many routine test results are available within a short timeframe, depending on the test, without needing to travel to an outside facility.

Whether you are coming in for a routine wellness panel, following up on a chronic condition, or trying to understand unexplained symptoms, our board-certified providers order the right tests and walk you through your results in plain language.

Most diagnostic screenings are covered by major insurance plans, including Medicare. We also offer affordable self-pay pricing for patients without coverage.

What Lab Tests Are Done at a Primary Care Visit?

The specific tests your provider orders will depend on your age, symptoms, and health history. Common diagnostic screenings at ProMed include:

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC): evaluates red and white blood cells and platelets
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): assesses kidney function, liver function, blood sugar, and electrolytes
  • Lipid Panel: measures total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides
  • Hemoglobin A1C: monitors average blood sugar levels over three months for diabetes management
  • Thyroid Panel (TSH, T3, T4): evaluates thyroid function
  • Urinalysis: screens for urinary tract infections, kidney problems, and metabolic disorders
  • STI and STD screenings
  • Vitamin D, B12, and iron levels
  • Inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR)
  • Hormone panels: testosterone, estrogen, cortisol, DHEA
  • Cancer screening markers where appropriate

Not sure which tests you need? Your ProMed provider will review your health history and recommend the right panel for your situation.

Imaging and Additional Diagnostic Services

In addition to in-house blood work and lab testing, ProMed coordinates imaging and specialist diagnostic services for patients who need a more complete picture of their health, including:

  • Referrals for X-rays and imaging studies
  • EKG (electrocardiogram) for cardiac screening
  • Referrals for ultrasound and advanced imaging
  • Pulmonary function testing coordination for asthma and COPD
  • Referrals to specialist diagnostic centers in the DFW area

When a test needs to be performed outside our office, we coordinate the referral, communicate your results, and follow up with you directly to help ensure appropriate follow-up and communication throughout your care.

ProMed Primary Care Is Here to Help

Diagnostic results are only useful when they come with clear guidance on what to do next. At ProMed, every test result is reviewed by your provider, explained in terms you can understand, and connected to a concrete next step, whether that is a medication adjustment, a specialist referral, a dietary change, or helping you better understand your health and recommended next steps.

We offer same-day and walk-in appointments for patients who need prompt diagnostic evaluation, as well as scheduled wellness screening visits for preventive care. Both locations in Arlington and Irving are equipped for efficient in-house lab processing.

Why Regular Diagnostic Screenings Matter

Preventive lab testing may help identify certain health concerns earlier, allowing your provider to recommend appropriate follow-up care when needed. Patients who stay current with their diagnostic visits experience:

  • May support earlier detection of diabetes.  Thyroid disease, kidney problems, and heart disease
  • Better management of existing chronic conditions through regular tracking
  • It may reduce risk of serious complications tied to undetected health issues
  • Clearer insight into how diet, exercise, and lifestyle choices affect your health
  • Faster diagnosis when new symptoms appear
  • Up-to-date baseline data that your provider uses to track your health over time
  • Peace of mind from knowing your key health numbers are in range

How often should you get blood work done? Most adults benefit from a comprehensive lab panel at least once a year as part of their annual physical. Your provider may recommend more frequent testing based on your health history and risk factors.
